SMART CITES
The ‘smart
city’ is an urban development concept that applies new technologies (AI, IoT,
ICT, etc.) to make people’s life more sustainable, resilient, adaptive, and
efficient. A smart city relies on an ecosystem of objects and services that
interact with each other and serve their users. The cooperation between local
and regional governments, States, international organizations and other
relevant stakeholders is key to identify the best path to develop and regulate
smart city initiatives that respect human rights, improve public services,
promote civic participation, while enhancing urban resilience. That is why the
GCH engages to promote the voice of local and regional governments in relevant
multilateral State-led processes, in particular at the International
Telecommunication Union (ITU).
