URBAN HEALTH
Urbanization
has a significant impact on health. Indeed, a rising number of urban dwellers suffer
from inadequate housing and transport, poor sanitation and waste management, poor
air quality and limited access to quality food and physical activity. However,
local and regional governments also play a crucial role in influencing the
health and well-being of their residents by shaping the urban environment, adopting
policies and providing services which positively impact public health. That is
why the GCH works to promote the voice of local and regional governments in health-related
global processes and initiatives, in particular at the World Health
Organization (WHO).
