GCH presented its pledges to P2C Digital Coalition

On 12 December 2023, at the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition Annual Meeting co-director Kemileva officially presented the pledges by GCH to raise awareness among Local and Regional Governments (LRGs) about the important role they can play to scale-out efforts to increase meaningful connectivity in cities.

The GCH seeks to better connect local and regional governments to Geneva-based multilateral processes. To that effect, GCH advocates strongly in favor of meaningful involvement of LRGs in global policymaking, formulating regulations, negotiating multilateral agreements, and rolling out development strategies.

GCH has joined the growing P2C community that it considers as a unique multistakeholder collaboration network with a strong emphasis on pledge mobilization and matchmaking. We are eager to find partners who would be ready to join our efforts to work with and assist local and regional governments to develop digital infrastructure, build local capacity to harness digitalization and to explore the citiverse to bring cities to a better future.

“The Global Cities Hub pledges to raise awareness among Local and Regional Governments about the activities of the Partner2Connect Digital Coalition and the important role they can play to scale-out efforts to increase meaningful connectivity in cities.

Through various meetings, the GCH will promote the objectives supported by the P2C within its network of representatives of LRGs on all continents to harness the enormous potential of digitalization to improve people’s lives and fast forward progress on the SDGs.

GCH commits to organize a yearly event to engage relevant stakeholders to mobilize in favor of meaningful connectivity, including to unlock additional resources for local and subnational projects to connect the hardest to reach communities.”
