Description
Briefing on the 8th session of the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction
The issue of disaster risk reduction will be at the heart of the 8th session of the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR), in Geneva, on 2-6 June 2025. Under the theme “Every Day Counts, Act for Resilience Today”, the GPDRR will feature a wide range of sessions and activities, including several events of relevance to cities and regions on local risk governance, local financing, urban resilience, and localizing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
This event, co-organized with the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and Making Cities Resilient 2030, aims to brief local and regional governments on the upcoming session of the GPDRR. It will be structured around three central topics: the important discussions relating to cities and urban disaster risk reduction, the participation of local and regional governments, and the potential outcomes of the session.
