Plastic pollution convention under negotiation: what about the cities?

The negotiation of the new International Legally Binding Instrument on Plastic Pollution (Plastic Pollution INC-1) started in November in Punta del Este Uruguay and will continue next April in Paris (INC-2). As the issue raises a lot of interest, a "plastic COP" some say, local and regional governments (LRGs), among the first to be concerned are nowhere to be seen in the negotiations.

Geneva Cities Hub and several partners have recently launched a Coalition for the participation LRGs in the UPR. The coalition seeks to promote the involvement of LRGs in the UPR, to garner support for human rights at all levels of governments and enhance their implementation on the ground.
