GCH reports on its pledges at P2C Digital Coalition Annual Meeting

On 30 January 2025, at the Partner2Connect (P2C) Digital Coalition Annual Meeting, the we assessed the pledges made in previous editions : raise awareness among Local and Regional Governments (LRGs) about the important role they can play to increase meaningful connectivity in cities and leave no one behind.

The P2C community is a unique multistakeholder collaboration network with a strong emphasis on pledge mobilization and matchmaking. It is one of the avenues to work with and assist LRGs to develop digital infrastructure, including the citiverse to make cities the epicenter of a better future.

Last year three of our projects stood out as the very vehicles to advance an inclusive dialogue on digitalization in general and developing local digital infrastructure and knowledge in particular.

  • The GCH co-organized the workshop “Human Rights in the Digital Age: Balancing AI, Technology, and Governance in Smart Cities”. This workshop gathered over 00 participants and explored the intersection of human rights protection with AI use and innovation.
  • Last October, more than 50 mayors participated to the UN Forum of Mayors and provided insights into how their city could contribute to the implementation of the UN Pact for the Future, including its third chapter: Science, technology, and innovation, and digital cooperation.
  • Together with ITU, we co-organized the webinar “Celebrating World Cities Day and Shaping Urban Futures”. The GCH reached out to partners who could assist LRGs to develop digital infrastructure and build local capacity to harness digitalization. Mayors shared their experiences, lessons learnt and expectations regarding the development of digital infrastructure.
