Neighbors’ Day brings us closer to our partners

On 20 June, the Geneva Cities Hub co-hosted Neighbors’ Day with Handicap International, GMPA, J’aime ma planète, Rhizome and Civicus.

The event gathered representatives from dozens of institutions and organizations, including the Canton of Geneva as well as Geneva-based international organizations and NGOs. It was an opportunity to informally discuss areas of interest with stakeholders and potential new partners among the international ecosystem.

The Geneva Cities Hub promotes the participation of Local and Regional Government (LRGs) in the work of international organizations on many different topics. It discusses with States and the UN to find ways to involve LRGs in important processes like the new treaty on plastic pollution, the UN Universal Periodic Review and the new treaty on pandemics, among others. This year, for the third time, GCH will partner with UNECE on the Forum of Mayors, enabling mayors to present their work on sustainable urbanization, within the walls of the Palais des Nations.

Our neighbors in Geneva are treasures to us and to the whole world”, said Pauline Leroy, communication officer, Geneva Cities Hub.That is because they all contribute to important topics such as human rights, migration, social & political inclusion and the environment.
