On 11 December 2023, the Global Cities Hub will hold its Annual strategic retreat. This year, the retreat will focus on the multilateral role and contribution by city networks in addressing global challenges with local effects.
For that purpose, the GCH and invited partners will explore possible synergies to better advance our joint advocacy towards the UN and other international organizations, to strengthen their engagement on urban issues and more generally with local and regional governments (LRGs), in particular in view of the Summit of the Future to be held next year in New York. City networks are crucial to draw on the practices and experiences of LRGs and to formulate inputs into global policy making processes.
The GCH retreat shall result in recommendations on how city networks can contribute to making inclusive and effective multilateralism a reality. Input from the participants, including members of the board and GCH closest partners, will allow a deep and critical discussion.
