Description
International Humanitarian Action and the Role of Local and Regional Authorities
On 7 February, the GCH will co-organize with OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) a hybrid event on “International Humanitarian Action and the role of local and regional authorities”. The event will highlight the scope of global humanitarian needs and emphasize opportunities for enhanced engagement and partnerships with cities and regions. In particular, OCHA will brief them on the role of humanitarian pooled funds in providing life-saving assistance, ensuring greater engagement of local actors in the planning and implementation of humanitarian actions, and addressing gaps in humanitarian response. Overall, the event will constitute a platform for local and regional authorities to explore how they can have more impact in humanitarian action through international cooperation and to concretely define areas where they have a comparative advantage in the global humanitarian system. If you’re representing a local or regional authority and you are interested to take part, please contact us (info@globalcitieshub.org). |
