|
This webinar presents the Global Initiative on AI and Virtual Worlds – Discovering the Citiverse and selected tools for LRGs. By aligning strategic vision, technical foundations, and accessibility by design, it explains how to prepare the real-world adoption of the Citiverse. The Global Initiative on AI and Virtual Worlds – Discovering the Citiverse is a global multistakeholder platform which aims to advance the AI-enabled citiverse where AI, spatial intelligence and digital twins converge to deliver real-world impact. The Initiative brings together governments, industry and the UN system to promote safe, open and interoperable ecosystems, enabling public service transformation, economic growth and digital trust. The initiative provides insights into the viability of different immersive technologies in cities and measuring progress, impact, and sustainability in alignment with the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Altavoces
Teppo Rantanen is Executive Director of Economic Policy, Competitiveness and Innovation at the City of Tampere, Finland. He will present a strategic framework dedicated to producing high-quality reports, guidelines, and best practices that serve as a knowledge repository for the development and implementation of virtual worlds. Topics included are policy and regulatory matters including governance, security and trust. The work stream under his leadership aimed to provide actionable insights and practical guidance to cities, governments, organizations, and stakeholders seeking to navigate, monitor and evaluate the complex landscape of virtual worlds, given the technological advances underway.
Christina Yan Zhang is CEO of The Metaverse Institute and leader of the work on the “City Leader’s Field Guide: Preparing for the AI-enabled citiverse – The Practical Readiness Assessment for Mayors, Ministers, and Senior City Decision-Makers”. This Field Guide is a practical readiness tool designed to help city leaders assess whether the essential foundations are in place to begin preparing for the AI-enabled citiverse. Rather than presenting a theoretical vision, it offers a structured and action-oriented approach to help decision-makers identify strengths, surface critical gaps, and prioritise the next steps needed to move from ambition to implementation. Through a rapid Pulse Check, a deeper Essential 20 Assessment, and a 90-Day Action Plan, the guide supports cities in building the governance, policy, data, financing, and partnership conditions required for responsible, human-centric, and interoperable digital transformation.
