The International Smart Cities Network (ISCN) is a global initiative, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building and implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, that promotes sustainable, citizen-centred and integrated urban development through the use of digital solutions. The network fosters international collaboration among governments, municipalities, experts and other urban stakeholders by facilitating the peer exchange of knowledge, good practices, innovative approaches and lessons learned on smart city development.
The ISCN connects stakeholders from more than 40 countries across different regions, engaging participants primarily at the national and municipal levels.
OBJETIVOS PRINCIPALES
The International Smart Cities Network (ISCN) aims to advance sustainable, citizen-centred and integrated urban development through international cooperation on smart cities. Its objectives are to:
- facilitate knowledge exchange among partner countries, municipalities and other stakeholders;
- promote the sharing of good practices, innovative solutions and practical experiences;
- strengthen capacities for digital urban transformation; and
- foster collaborative initiatives that contribute to more inclusive, resilient and sustainable cities.
PROYECTOS CLAVE
To support international knowledge exchange on digital urban transformation, the ISCN organizes and promotes several flagship initiatives, including:
ISCN Global Mixer: A series of short online sessions featuring expert presentations and discussions on selected smart city topics. The format consists of a 20-minute keynote followed by a 10-minute Q&A.
ISCN Online Advisory Programmes: Interactive online expert exchanges bringing together practitioners from around the world to share practical experiences, case studies and best practices. Previous editions have covered topics such as data governance, urban data platforms, green infrastructure and other aspects of smart city development.
ISCN Podcasts: A podcast series exploring emerging trends, innovations and practical experiences in smart city development through conversations with experts from urban development, public policy, academia and related fields.
