El debate abord\u00f3 las barreras a las que siguen enfrent\u00e1ndose las mujeres tanto para alcanzar el liderazgo pol\u00edtico como para ejercerlo. Christina Kitsos, alcaldesa de Ginebra y presidenta del Global Cities Hub, destac\u00f3 c\u00f3mo las desigualdades persistentes, incluida la distribuci\u00f3n desigual de las responsabilidades dom\u00e9sticas y la carga mental que soportan las mujeres, siguen condicionando las oportunidades de estas. Al mismo tiempo, las alcaldesas cuestionaron las percepciones tradicionales sobre el liderazgo pol\u00edtico, haciendo hincapi\u00e9 en que la empat\u00eda, la sensibilidad y la capacidad de escuchar son fortalezas a la hora de gobernar ciudades cada vez m\u00e1s diversas y complejas.
