El Global Cities Hub est\u00e1 intensificando su labor en el \u00e1mbito de la diplomacia medioambiental, reconociendo el creciente inter\u00e9s de las ciudades y regiones por participar activamente en los debates y la toma de decisiones internacionales. Los principales lugares donde esto ocurre son las Conferencias de las Partes (COP) sobre el Clima y otras, as\u00ed como la Asamblea de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (UNEA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dado que los gobiernos locales y regionales aplican cada vez m\u00e1s pol\u00edticas medioambientales y acuerdos multilaterales y se ven cada vez m\u00e1s afectados por ellos, el GCH ha dado un paso importante al firma de un Memorando de Entendimiento con el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA)<\/strong>. Tras la firma del Memorando de Entendimiento, el Presidente del GCH, Sami Kanaan, y el Director del PNUMA, Arnold Kreilhuber, debatieron los retos comunes y reconfirmaron el compromiso de estrechar la colaboraci\u00f3n, en particular con la Unidad de Ciudades del PNUMA, que se centra en la participaci\u00f3n de los agentes urbanos en los procesos medioambientales mundiales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, la codirectora del GCH, Kamelia Kemileva, representa, junto con Yunus Arikan (ICLEI), al Grupo Principal de Autoridades Locales (GPAL)<\/a>) dentro del Amigos de las partes interesadas<\/strong> en el PNUMA<\/strong> grupo. Se trata de una nueva plataforma, creada en el marco del UNEA 6 en 2024, cuyo objetivo es garantizar el di\u00e1logo entre todos los Estados miembros y todos los grupos principales, incluido el LAMG de cara al UNEA 7 y en otros procesos. En este papel, contribuyen directamente a las negociaciones cr\u00edticas, incluida la Declaraci\u00f3n Ministerial para el pr\u00f3ximo UNEA-7 (ver aqu\u00ed<\/a> ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
