El evento ten\u00eda como objetivo fomentar un di\u00e1logo abierto sobre el papel de los Gobiernos Locales y Regionales (GLR) en las negociaciones en curso sobre el nuevo Tratado sobre la Contaminaci\u00f3n por Pl\u00e1stico. La Coalici\u00f3n se moviliza antes de la 2<sup>nd<\/sup> parte de la ronda final de negociaciones (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/inc-plastic-pollution\/session-5.2\">INC 5.2. 2<sup>nd<\/sup> pieza<\/a>) que se celebrar\u00e1 en Ginebra el pr\u00f3ximo mes de agosto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los debates se centraron en salvaguardar y ampliar las referencias a los GLR en el borrador del tratado, sobre todo en los art\u00edculos relacionados con la aplicaci\u00f3n, la financiaci\u00f3n, los sistemas de reutilizaci\u00f3n y la planificaci\u00f3n nacional. Los participantes subrayaron la necesidad de reconocer formalmente a los GLR como actores clave en la aplicaci\u00f3n del tratado, especialmente dada su proximidad a los ciudadanos y sus responsabilidades de primera l\u00ednea en la gesti\u00f3n de residuos y la lucha contra la contaminaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hubo consenso sobre la importancia estrat\u00e9gica de los pr\u00f3ximos meses, y la Coalici\u00f3n se comprometi\u00f3 a mantener su compromiso y a seguir defendiendo sus intereses. La Coalici\u00f3n ha presentado un texto sobre la <a href=\"https:\/\/wedocs.unep.org\/bitstream\/handle\/20.500.11822\/46710\/Chairs_Text.pdf\">Texto actual del Presidente<\/a> (1 de diciembre de 2024) y har\u00e1 un seguimiento de cualquier nueva iteraci\u00f3n del proyecto de texto y presentar\u00e1 el lenguaje a la Presidencia seg\u00fan proceda.
