Las ciudades son las mejor situadas para aplicar medidas que puedan reducir las causas profundas de los conflictos y contribuir a una sociedad m\u00e1s pac\u00edfica. Invertir en educaci\u00f3n, sanidad e integraci\u00f3n social a nivel local es esencial para limitar la violencia urbana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Aunque las ciudades suelen carecer de recursos, la colaboraci\u00f3n internacional entre ciudades y el intercambio de conocimientos son otros elementos importantes para avanzar en el desarrollo de capacidades para promover la paz a nivel local. Las redes de ciudades, las relaciones entre ciudades hermanas y las plataformas de di\u00e1logo dan a las ciudades la capacidad de trabajar juntas, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las fronteras nacionales, para construir un mundo m\u00e1s pac\u00edfico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Varios actos celebrados en Ginebra demuestran ya el papel de los gobiernos locales en la promoci\u00f3n de la paz.
