A trav\u00e9s de sus servicios p\u00fablicos y sus decisiones cotidianas, los GLR contribuyen significativamente al cumplimiento de los derechos humanos. Sin embargo, rara vez describen su trabajo en t\u00e9rminos de respeto, protecci\u00f3n, cumplimiento o promoci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos, aunque a menudo se basen impl\u00edcitamente en principios de derechos humanos como la equidad, la justicia social y la transparencia. De hecho, los GLR ganar\u00edan mucho anclando su trabajo en la legislaci\u00f3n internacional sobre derechos humanos y comprometi\u00e9ndose m\u00e1s activamente con el sistema de derechos humanos de la ONU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existen varios procedimientos y pr\u00e1cticas para implicar a los GLR en el sistema de derechos humanos de la ONU. Todos ellos deber\u00edan mejorarse y aplicarse de forma m\u00e1s sistem\u00e1tica. En su presentaci\u00f3n, el GCH se refiere espec\u00edficamente al <a href=\"https:\/\/globalcitieshub.org\/es\/launch-of-the-coalition-lrgs-in-upr\/\">Examen Peri\u00f3dico Universal,<\/a> el Consejo de Derechos Humanos, los Procedimientos Especiales, los \u00d3rganos de Tratados, y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ohchr.org\/en\/treaty-bodies\/national-mechanisms-implementation-reporting-and-follow\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mecanismos nacionales de aplicaci\u00f3n, informaci\u00f3n y seguimiento<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s, el GCH sugiere dos formas nuevas e innovadoras de implicar a los GLR en el sistema de derechos humanos de la ONU. En primer lugar, establecer<strong> un nuevo estatuto para los GRL<\/strong> para que puedan comprometerse de manera sostenible con el sistema de las Naciones Unidas y hablar por s\u00ed mismos. Segundo, <strong>crear un nuevo Foro <\/strong>sobre gobierno local y derechos humanos, de forma similar a otros Foros del Consejo de Derechos Humanos.
