El 4 de junio de 2021<\/strong>el Geneva Cities Hub (GCH) y ONU-H\u00e1bitat<\/a> concluyeron un Memorando de Entendimiento (MoU), que formaliza y refuerza sus ya altos niveles de cooperaci\u00f3n. ONU-H\u00e1bitat es el programa de la ONU que trabaja por un futuro urbano mejor, centr\u00e1ndose en los actores y asuntos urbanos. Es la entidad de la ONU que naturalmente ha considerado a las autoridades locales como sus socios m\u00e1s cercanos. Desde la creaci\u00f3n del GCH, ONU-H\u00e1bitat ha sido uno de sus principales socios.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

En el Memorando de Entendimiento, el GCH y ONU-H\u00e1bitat se comprometen a trabajar juntos para:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

- Aumento de la concienciaci\u00f3n y la capacidad de las ciudades y las redes de ciudades y de las partes interesadas internacionales con sede en Ginebra sobre cuestiones urbanas clave;
- Mejora de los debates p\u00fablicos en Ginebra sobre la participaci\u00f3n de las ciudades en el multilateralismo y el desarrollo urbano sostenible;
- Refuerzo de la cooperaci\u00f3n en asuntos relacionados con la Foro de Alcaldes<\/a> y su Declaraci\u00f3n<\/a>;
- Mejora de la interacci\u00f3n con las plataformas y redes mundiales que trabajan en temas urbanos con la Ginebra internacional.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

En particular, el Memorando de Entendimiento hace hincapi\u00e9 en el papel de los Debates urbanos en Ginebra<\/a>. Proporcionan a las ciudades, a las redes de ciudades y a las organizaciones con sede en Ginebra una plataforma neutral para debatir cuestiones urbanas clave. Entre estos temas se encuentran el agua, el cambio clim\u00e1tico y la vivienda. Los resultados de los Debates Urbanos de Ginebra se enviar\u00e1n como contribuciones de Ginebra Internacional al Foro Urbano Mundial<\/a> en Katowice en 2022.<\/p>\n

El Memor\u00e1ndum de Entendimiento tambi\u00e9n reconoce la organizaci\u00f3n conjunta de sesiones informativas informales sobre el Grupo de trabajo de la ONU sobre el futuro de las ciudades<\/a> para las organizaciones con sede en Ginebra.<\/p>\n

\"Este memorando de entendimiento es un hito en nuestra cooperaci\u00f3n. Constituye un paso importante hacia nuestro objetivo com\u00fan, que es avanzar en la participaci\u00f3n y el compromiso de las ciudades en el multilateralismo\", declar\u00f3 Anh Thu Duong, del GCH, durante la ceremonia de la firma.<\/p>\n

Graham Alabaster, Jefe de la Oficina de ONU-H\u00e1bitat en Ginebra, afirm\u00f3 que \"ONU-H\u00e1bitat acoge con satisfacci\u00f3n este acuerdo, que proporciona un marco claro a nuestra cooperaci\u00f3n con el GCH y refuerza nuestros esfuerzos para poner de relieve el papel fundamental que desempe\u00f1an los sistemas urbanos en los procesos nacionales, regionales y multilaterales\".<\/p>\n
