La Red de Ciudades por los Derechos Humanos es una organizaci\u00f3n sin \u00e1nimo de lucro (asociaci\u00f3n sin \u00e1nimo de lucro). Est\u00e1 dirigida por un equipo de expertos que cuenta con el apoyo de un Consejo Asesor formado por especialistas en derechos humanos de alto nivel, que establece su direcci\u00f3n y supervisa su trabajo.<\/b><\/span><\/h4>

Invitamos a las ciudades europeas que se comprometen a respetar, proteger y promover una cultura de los derechos humanos a convertirse en \"miembros invitados\".<\/b><\/span><\/h4>

En la actualidad, la red cuenta con siete ciudades miembros invitadas como modelos inspiradores: Graz, Lund, Middelburg, Nuremberg, Utrecht, Viena y York. Trabajamos estrechamente con tres miembros asociados: el Instituto Raoul Wallenberg;<\/a> University College Roosevelt y Utrecht University; y Global CAD y la US Human Rights Cities Alliance.<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

OBJETIVOS PRINCIPALES<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

Los derechos humanos son la base de la libertad, la justicia y la paz en el mundo. Forman parte del tejido social internacional que une a las personas m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las fronteras. M\u00e1s que nunca necesitamos la fuerza unificadora de los derechos humanos y eso significa ciudades de derechos humanos.<\/p>

La crisis de COVID-19 ha puesto de manifiesto la contribuci\u00f3n esencial de las autoridades locales para situar los derechos humanos en el centro de las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas. Una gobernanza local eficaz es clave para lograr este objetivo.<\/p>

Las ciudades por los derechos humanos tambi\u00e9n acercan los procesos de toma de decisiones a las personas. La red se basa en las lecciones que hemos aprendido para promover los derechos humanos a nivel local.<\/p>

Las perspectivas locales tambi\u00e9n deben ser escuchadas y representadas a nivel internacional. Dada su importancia, las autoridades locales deben estar representadas y participar en los trabajos de los mecanismos internacionales de derechos humanos, en las reuniones del Consejo de Derechos Humanos de la ONU y en los actos dirigidos por instituciones internacionales o europeas.<\/p>

Ser miembro del Comit\u00e9 Internacional del Foro Mundial de Ciudades por los Derechos Humanos de Gwangju nos permite contribuir al movimiento m\u00e1s amplio de ciudades por los derechos humanos.<\/p>

Los cuatro objetivos estrat\u00e9gicos de la red son:<\/p>

- Crear sinergias entre las instituciones internacionales, los acad\u00e9micos y los actores de la ciudad.<\/p>

- Difundir lo que son las ciudades de derechos humanos e intercambiar buenas pr\u00e1cticas, documentar experiencias locales y describir nuevas tendencias.<\/p>

- Facilitar el di\u00e1logo y la reflexi\u00f3n colectiva y ayudar a desarrollar metodolog\u00edas, herramientas y directrices.<\/p>

- Desarrollar la capacidad compartiendo la experiencia o proporcionando servicios a medida.<\/p>

PROYECTOS CLAVE<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

- Identificar un mecanismo de seguimiento claro para las ciudades de Europa basado en los elementos clave del Marco de Compromisos de la Agencia de Derechos Fundamentales de la Uni\u00f3n Europea (FRA) y otros ejemplos de seguimiento de los derechos humanos. Es esencial hacer un seguimiento peri\u00f3dico de los logros y avances de las ciudades por los derechos humanos para desarrollar un movimiento global.<\/p>

- Impulsar el desarrollo global de las ciudades de los derechos humanos promoviendo:<\/p>

Una funci\u00f3n de asesoramiento para las instituciones acad\u00e9micas de la red del Campus Global de Derechos Humanos, para apoyar a las autoridades locales de las futuras ciudades de derechos humanos.<\/p>

Investigaci\u00f3n especializada sobre las ciudades de derechos humanos y las iniciativas locales de derechos humanos para desarrollar directrices y marcos de supervisi\u00f3n.<\/p>

- Potenciar la labor de defensa de los derechos humanos en las ciudades, contribuyendo al desarrollo de movimientos regionales y mundiales.<\/p>

Las ciudades por los derechos humanos contribuyen de forma significativa a la definici\u00f3n de la pol\u00edtica global, acercando los procesos de toma de decisiones a la poblaci\u00f3n. C\u00f3mo potenciar la democracia local en el futuro es una prioridad para quienes trabajan para reforzar los objetivos locales e internacionales en materia de derechos humanos. Los nuevos conceptos que tienden un puente entre lo global y lo local se perfilan especialmente en las ciudades.
