{"id":18530,"date":"2023-05-16T13:56:04","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T11:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.genevacitieshub.org\/?p=18530"},"modified":"2023-05-25T14:54:01","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T12:54:01","slug":"suggested-language-for-cities-in-the-inc-2-plastic-pollution-treaty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalcitieshub.org\/en\/suggested-language-for-cities-in-the-inc-2-plastic-pollution-treaty\/","title":{"rendered":"Suggested language for cities in the new Plastic Pollution Treaty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As the Geneva Cities Hub prepares to attend the second session of the negotiations on a new treaty against plastic pollution (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/events\/conference\/second-session-intergovernmental-negotiating-committee-develop-international\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">INC-2, Paris, 29 May -2 June<\/a>), it has provided inputs to the compilation that the UNEP Secretariat prepared, based on the States\u2019 submissions. The objective of these inputs is to ensure a meaningful inclusion of Local and Regional Governments (LRGs) in the future treaty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The GCH believes that in the future treaty on plastic pollution, LRGs should be referred to as implementing actors.
